Coach

Jean was lucky enough to grow up on a farm and have ponies and horses for the first 20 years of her life.  She started showing in lead-line at 3 years old, but it wasn’t until she was 8, got her pony Puff (Magic Dragon) and joined Pony Club that she really started riding seriously.  Jean competed in all the Pony Club disciplines (Quiz, PPG, Show Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, and Tetrathlon) and tested to her B level.  Outside of Pony Club Jean evented at the training level in Ontario and loves hopping in a western saddle.

Jean’s teaching experience started when she outgrew her pony Puff, she began giving riding lessons on him as her high school job.  Through Pony Club she was a branch rep and coach for PGG and Tetrathlon, and a regional tester for levels up to C1.  Jean enjoys teaching riders the ins and outs of riding, how to take care of your horse, and become a confident rider.

Since university Jean had been out of the horse world, and instead filled her time with moving across Canada, triathlons, hiking, dragon boating, curling and all manner of things.  But moving to Nova Scotia near Todd Hill was a sign that it was time to get back to her love of horses.  Jean has been a regular instructor at Todd Hill Farm since 2019.

Riding has given Jean so much and made a huge impact on who she is today, so she really enjoys opportunities to give back to the riding community and help other riders share in the joy of horses.
