Horseback riding is unlike traditional sports in that the rider develops a relationship and partnership with the horse. They become one unit. This can have a profound impact on the metal and emotional well-being of our youth. This relationship extends beyond the actual activity of riding. When you watch a child interact with a horse in any capacity, it is evident that there are multiple personal development opportunities. Here are just a few of the benefits we have seen:
- Self Confidence
- Empathy
- Problem Solving Skills
- Negotiation Skills
- Compromise
- Patience
- Overcoming Fears
- Pride
- Teamwork
- Leaderships
By supporting the farm, you are supporting the development of our youth and the next generation of community leaders.
Todd Hill Farm relies on a roster of full-time staff, part-time staff, student helpers and volunteers. Our helpers and volunteers are the backbone of the operation – they are the “glue” that keeps everything together! With 30+ horses, there’s always something that needs to be done – from changing horse blankets to cleaning stalls.

Helping with Horses is hard work but incredibly satisfying! It’s cheaper than going to the gym and you sleep well at night! Having volunteer experience of this nature on a resume can be a real asset when applying for any kind of work, post-secondary educational opportunities or programs where there may be stiff competition on acceptance. Todd Hill Farm is happy to provide letters of reference and also serve as a reference for our volunteers.
